Buddy program

Buddy program is an Office of International Education initiative which aims at integrating Exchange and native LUT students as well as helping the newcomers to adapt in a foreign country and university.

At each phase of the academic exchange, but especially before the arrival and during first period of the stay, one may need help to minimalise the culture shock and to reduce tension and insecurity.

Within the Buddy program exchange students will receive help from their peers to

• organize themselves in a new place,
• build up a (new) social life and network,
• get around and about,
• exchange experience.

Both buddies and their mentors become more fluent in foreign languages, develop social skills and learn more about different cultures.
