Doctoral Students

Lublin University of Technology Doctoral School was established in 2019. Since its inception, it has been a key element of the university's academic staff training system, fulfilling its mission of preparing doctoral students to conduct independent research and obtain qualifications corresponding to level 8 of the Polish Qualifications Framework.

Education at SDwPL lasts four years and is based on the curriculum and an Individual Research Plan developed jointly with the supervisor. The SDwPL is an organisational unit subordinate to the Vice-Rector for Science, and its operations are managed by the Director in cooperation with the Coordinators of scientific disciplines and the Doctoral School Council.

In the academic year 2026/27, candidates are being recruited for the Lublin University of Technology Doctoral School in the following scientific disciplines:

• architecture and urban planning
• automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies
• information and communication technology
• civil engineering, geodesy and transport
• mechanical engineering
• environmental engineering, mining and energy
• management and quality studies

STER Programme – NAWA

The STER Programme, implemented by NAWA, is designed to support the internationalization of doctoral schools in Poland. Its primary objective is to strengthen the global competitiveness of Polish higher education institutions by enhancing the quality and openness of doctoral education.

The programme focuses on increasing the participation of international doctoral candidates, developing internationally oriented study programmes, and fostering stronger global research collaboration. Through targeted funding, universities can expand their academic offer and create a more diverse and dynamic research environment.

As part of the STER Programme, participating institutions may receive support for:

• scholarships for doctoral students, particularly from abroad,
• international mobility, including research stays and academic exchanges,
• hosting visiting professors and foreign experts,
• developing courses and training programmes in English,
• promotional activities aimed at attracting international candidates.

By investing in doctoral education, the STER Programme contributes to building modern, internationally connected research institutions and supports the development of highly qualified researchers prepared to operate in a global academic environment.

Accommodation at Lublin University of Technology

Lublin University of Technology offers students the opportunity to live in comfortable student dormitories located directly on campus. This is a convenient and cost-effective solution, especially for those starting their studies in Lublin.

Student Dormitories

The university operates four dormitory buildings situated on Nadbystrzycka Street:

• Dormitory No. 1
• Dormitory No. 2
• Dormitory No. 3
• Dormitory No. 4

Their location within the campus ensures that lecture halls and university facilities are only a few minutes’ walk away.

Accommodation Standard

Students can choose between single and double rooms. Dormitories provide:

• Internet access
• Fully furnished rooms (bed, desk, wardrobe)
• Refrigerator and basic sanitary facilities
• Access to shared kitchens and laundry rooms

Many of the buildings have been modernized in recent years, improving overall living standards.

Fees

Accommodation costs (academic year 2025/2026):

• Double room: from approx. 750 PLN/month
• Single room: from approx. 1200 PLN/month

Fees may be higher for non-students.

Application Process

To apply for a dormitory place, students must submit an application through the university system. Allocation is based on criteria such as:

• Distance from the student’s permanent residence
• Financial situation

Applications are typically accepted during the summer period before the academic year begins.
