Did you miss us during the holidays? We certainly did! Among the many tasks carried out by our Office, it is the projects directly related to the participation of the Polish academic community that we like the most.
On 30 September, we had the pleasure of welcoming students to the annual Polish language course. Over 40 people took a placement test and then learned about the ins and outs of our university, from the organisation of the academic year to the rules of living in student halls of residence. The onboarding ended with a tour of the LUT campus, including a visit to the Main Library.
On the same day, an organisational meeting for international students was also held. This October, over 200 people from abroad will begin their first year of studies in Polish language. Senior students actively participated in the adaptation of the freshmen, showing their new colleagues around the faculties and the most important points on campus.
It's been busy, hasn't it? Well, fasten your seatbelts, because it's not over yet!
On 1 October, during the Welcome Meeting, we inaugurated the academic year for Erasmus students who will spend a semester or a year studying at the Lublin University of Technology as part of an exchange programme. This year, we are hosting an exceptionally large group of exchange students, almost 230 people!
The Welcome Meeting consists primarily of information and organisational sessions conducted by our team, but it is also an excellent moment to show new students the opportunities offered by the University and the city of Lublin.
The Centre for Scientific and Technical Information is our regular guest and co-organiser of many other events within the field of international education. Szymon Furmaniak told the students about the Library's resources and the spaces they can use for study and recreation. In addition, as part of the Orientation Days, Szymon will be a guide during three trips around Lublin planned for the upcoming weekends in October.
Our foreign guests also had the opportunity to hear about Baobab - a place that is extremely active in supporting foreigners in Lublin.
The students' voices were also heard - what to get involved in at the university, where to go, what to eat in town - said Lidia Gozdecka, a mentor in the Buddy Programme.
At the end, the mentors took their mentees on a short campus tour; the last item on the agenda was, of course, socialising at the Kazik Club.
As you can see, October is an extremely busy time in terms of the diversity and accumulation of activities carried out by OIE for the development of students and staff and the internationalisation of the university.
In the following articles, you will read, among other things, about the new long-term Welcome to Poland project financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange, as well as more about the Buddy Programme.
