On March 5-6, 2026 Office of International Education coorganised a workshop “City-University Synergy. Lublin Case.” The event was organized under the patronage of the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange NAWA. Thanks to engagement of the Department of Strategy and Investor Service of Lublin City Hall, as well as Mayor’s Proxy for Students, workshop participants had an occasion to discuss the role of city in the development of academic community, as well as discuss potential cooperation. Presentation of city programmes dedicated to academia such as “Study in Lublin,” “Visiting Professors,” was an occasion to discuss recruitment realia from the perspective of universities and the city and challenges for both parties in the process.

The case of Lublin Science Festival, served as a starting point for discussion about the role of popularization of science among local communities. Participants of the event, were also acquainted with the role of Baobab Community centre in Lublin, where they listened about the history of the place, its immense role in the reception of immigrants related to the breach of war in Ukraine.

The second day of the event was an occasion to get to know how Lublin University of Technology inscribes in the priorities of SDG 11 to build sustainable and resilient cities and communities. Presentations of LUT’s scientists included such topics, as long-lasting cooperation with aviation industry and impressive outputs both in science, as well as introduction of innovative solutions to the aviation and machinery market. The audience could also get to know more about transport solutions which were created by LUT’s scientists as a result of cooperation with the city of Lublin, about innovative environmental solutions, support of technology in artistic domains and advanced architectural projects which were created for the city in cooperation with students’ scientific groups.
