May holidays (Majówka)

Every year, at the beginning of May, Poland celebrates a series of public holidays – 1 May (Labor Day), 2 May (Flag Day) and 3 May (Constitution Day). Labor Day and Constitution Day are official days off. Please keep in mind that universities, shops, govnerment offices, banks and post offices will be closed

Here are some activities you can do in Lublin during the "long weekend":

On May 1, at 11:00, the Grodzka Gate - NN Theatre Centre invites you to a free guided walk titled “Trade and Crafts.” (in Polish)

At 21:00, two shows are scheduled at the multimedia fountain on Plac Litewski: “Legend” and “Symphony of Science.”

On May 2, the national flag of Poland will be raised at Plac Litewski to mark Flag Day of the Republic of Poland. The ceremony will take place at 11:00.

At 14:00, the walk “Legends and Secrets of Lublin’s Old Town: A Walking Tour Through History” will take place. This walk is organized for non-Polish speakers living and visiting Lublin. Tickets for both events are available at the Tourist Inspiration Centre.

There will also be a series of free shows and performances blending elements of contemporary circus, street theatre, and fire shows:

  • 15:00 - acrobatics at Plac Po Farze
  • 16:00 - family street show at Plac Łokietka
  • 17:00 - “Szafa Show” at the Old Town Market Square
  • 21:00 - multimedia fountain shows at Plac Litewski

On May 3, at 13:00, starting at the Lublin City Hall, the traditional dance procession "Polonaise for Lublin" will take place as part of Constitution Day celebrations.
